Krudam Muay Thai School
When you think about Thailand, a bunch of things come to mind, and Muay Thai is clearly one of them. I'm into sports, so it felt natural to want to try this ancient art. Zero experience in combat sports on my side, I just checked Google Maps, picked a club that looked decent, and let's go! I went for a private lesson to really live the experience from A to Z, and I wasn't disappointed: the guy was on me from start to finish. He wrecked my cardio and my whole body. For the first time in my life, I got a cramp, and of all places, in my abs... Combat sports like Muay Thai have a rare kind of intensity, and when you're a beginner you constantly forget to breathe. The result: your cardio blows up mid-flight. And that's without even the risk of catching a shin like a tire iron on the brow if you drop your guard for half a second... I ended up on my knees several times, out of breath, but there's something about this sport that speaks to me. That drive to push yourself that whispers in your ear to do more, that makes you get back up again and again to land one more elbow, one more punch, each one like a small personal win. I can't even imagine the satisfaction once you actually start mastering your breath, your body, and your mind in a real fight... That's exactly why I signed up for 10 more lessons over the coming months, to dig a bit deeper into it and see where we can go together. The only downside: the coach wasn't super comfortable in English, so it wasn't easy to really talk with him outside of the exercises themselves. Sharing how something felt, asking questions, that part was tricky.
